COACHES

Steve McKeon
Steve is one of the founders of NC Coastal Volleyball Club, is the club director, and has coached every age division in club volleyball. He is the the Noble Middle School Coach, St. Mark Middle School Head Coach and is director for our Coastal Cadets skills program. Steve coached at the USAV High Performance National training center in Colorado Springs. He is a Gold Medal Squared certified coach and has worked as a clinician for team camps for GMS.  He earned a USAV CAP II certification, USAV VCAP, is a certified USAV IMPACT/SAFESPORT COACH INSTRUCTOR and a NATIONAL USAV HP COACH INSTRUCTOR.

Ellen Kazura
Ellen is in her eighth year at NC Coastal, is the Assistant Club Director and is Lead Coach for the  U17’s this season. She has coached U14, U15 & U16’s at NC Coastal and is in her seventh season as the Cape Fear Academy Varsity Head Coach. Before relocating to the Wilmington area in 2016, Ellen was the head varsity volleyball coach/program director for Charlotte Latin School and a National team coach for Carolina Juniors Volleyball Club in Charlotte. She has 19 years  experience coaching teams and players from middle school through 18. Ellen holds the following coaching credentials: MINDSET & MENTAL SKILLS COACHING CERTIFICATION from the Positive Performance Coach Academy, USAV CAP II, USAV IMPACT/SAFESPORT, GOLD MEDAL SQUARED CERTIFIED COACH,  AAU POSITIVE COACHING ALLIANCE CERTIFICATION .

Caroline Butts

Caroline is going into her third season coaching with NC Coastal.  She was a Libero at NC Coastal for six years, and played for the Southeastern Cardinals for five years. As a varsity starter, she received All Star team two years in a row, MVP at the East Coast National Tournament, and selected First team for Coastal Preps volleyball All Conference two years in a row. Caroline recently graduated for Liberty University with her Bachelors degree in Sports Management and also has her Associate Degree in Science from Cape Fear Community College. In June, she joined the administration team and took on the role at NC Coastal as a Club Administrator. Caroline will be the Head Coach for the 15 National Plus team this season. Caroline is USAV IMPACT/SAFESPORT certified.

Justin Keeny
Justin is in his tenth year coaching with NC Coastal, assists with club administration in recruiting,  and is the Head Coach for the U14 Premier Team.  Justin has coached U13 , U14, U15 and U16’s.  He was the volleyball director at Dig’N’Dive, administrating and coaching in their beach volleyball program. Justin played volleyball for the UNCW Men’s Club team and was president of the Seahawks’ Club team for two years.  He plays competitive outdoor beach and grass tournaments.  Justin holds a USAV CAP I coaching certification and is a GMS Certified Coach & Camp Clinician.

Marissa Parks
Marissa is in her ninth year coaching at NC Coastal. She is a staff coach this season at NC Coastal and has been a  U12, U13, & U16 head coach past seasons. She is also  the Head Varsity &  JV volleyball coach at Harrells Christian Academy. Marissa played six years of school volleyball and is an alumni player of NC Coastal having played four years on the club level. She is USAV IMPACT/SAFESPORT certified.

Loma Siegel
Loma is in her fifth season coaching with NC Coastal, assists with club administration as a director of instruction for our National and Regional level teams. Loma is the varsity Head Coach at Topsail High School. She is the founding coach of the Southeastern Homeschool Cardinals volleyball program. Loma is a Gold Medal Squared certified coach and is USAV IMPACT/SAFESPORT certified.

Jacob Yates 

Jacob is in his third year coaching at NC Coastal staff as a U15 head coach. Jacob relocated from  Athens Georgia  where he coached high school and travel volleyball for 15 years.  His coaching experience includes Head Varsity Coach for Oconee County High School and Assistant Director for Metro Volleyball Performance in Athens. Jacob played for the Appalachian State Men’s club team. He is also USAV IMPACT/SAFESPORT certified.

Asali Anderson

Asali is in her sixth year coaching with NC Coastal. She will be head coaching the 16 National team this season. Asali is also the head JV coach at North Brunswick High School. She is USAV IMPACT/SAFESPORT certified.

Deshay Becton

Deshay is heading into his sixth season with NC Coastal. He will be coaching the U18 Power team this season for the second time. During his time with NC Coastal he has coached U15-18. Deshay is the head Varsity coach at Laney High School. Before relocating to Wilmington, he was the assistant coach for the JV and Varsity teams at Jones Senior High School in Trenton, NC. Deshay is USAV IMPACT/SAFESPORT certified.

Piper Berkey

Piper has coached at NC Coastal for a little over a year now, where she is going into her second season with us. This season she will be coaching the U14 National team. Before moving to Wilmington, Piper played beach volleyball for two years at the collegiate level at St. Andrews University. Piper is USAV IMPACT/SAFESPORT certified.

Annelyse Belyea

 Juliette Cipolla

Juliette will be coaching the 13 National team this season. This is her first year with NC Coastal and her seventh season coaching club volleyball. She also brings five years of high school coaching experience. Before transitioning into coaching,  she played volleyball for 12 years. Juliette is USAV IMPACT/SAFESPORT certified.

Grace Covington 

This is Grace’s third year coaching at NC Coastal, but she has been part of the NC Coastal family for over seven years. She has been trained as both a player and coach in the GMS training program for more than six years. Over the past two years, she coached middle school volleyball at Cape Fear Academy. After completing her U18 season at NC Coastal, she continued her playing career at Wake Tech before returning home to coach. This season, she is coaching the U14 National Plus Team. Grace is USAV IMPACT/SAFESPORT certified.

JC Delavore

Jordan Dickeson

Jordan is in her second season on the NC Coastal coaching staff and is currently coaching the 12 Regional team this season. She brings eight years of high school coaching experience, including the past two seasons as the Varsity Assistant Coach at Topsail High School. Jordan has also coached club volleyball for six years. Originally from Lewiston, Idaho, Jordan relocated to Wilmington in the summer of 2024 and teaches Health & PE at Topsail High School. Jordan is USAV IMPACT/SAFESPORT certified.

Victor Diaz

Victor is heading into his second year coaching at NC Coastal. He played for one year on the boys club team here at NC Coastal. Victor will be assisting the 18 Boys National Team this season. Victor is USAV IMPACT/SAFESPORT certified.

Nathan Dishaw

Nathan will be assisting the 16 Power team this season. This is his first year coaching at NC Coastal. He played volleyball at Kettle Moraine High School, where he won a state championship in 2021, and competed in club volleyball with MVP Wisconsin throughout high school. Nathan went on to play three years of Division I volleyball at D’Youville University in Buffalo, New York.  Nathan is USAV IMPACT/SAFESPORT certified.

Beth Eanes

Beth is excited to be coaching with NC Coastal again this season. This is her second year with the club, and she is currently coaching the 15 Power team. She also serves as the JV coach at NHHS. Beth began playing volleyball in middle school and continued through high school, later playing for fun in college and throughout her adult life. Outside of volleyball, Beth works as a Youth Services Director for the YMCA and enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Beth is USAV/SAFESPORT certified. 

Chris Hawk

Brynnan Henry

Brynnan is in her third season coaching with NC Coastal. A Wilmington native, she grew up playing at NC Coastal before a high school knee injury led her to transition into coaching. During high school, she also refereed sand volleyball at Dig & Dive, giving her a well-rounded perspective on the game. She began coaching as an assistant with the U12 team and later led high school JV and U14 teams while attending college in Nebraska. After returning home to Wilmington, Brynnan rejoined NC Coastal to coach U12 and now leads the U15 Regional team. Brynnan is USAV/SAFESPORT certified. 

Mckayla Hunt

Mckayla is in her second year coaching at NC Coastal Volleyball Club, where she is assisting the 13U team. Last season, she served as the assistant JV coach for Cape Fear Academy. She played volleyball for 10 years, from recreational to travel volleyball, and competed for four years in high school.  Mckayla is USAV/SAFESPORT certified.

Lauren Mantel

Lauren will be assisting the 15 Power team this season. Lauren began playing volleyball in eighth grade and competed in club volleyball in Southern California until her junior year of high school, when she committed to play Division III collegiate volleyball at Greensboro College. She played three years at Greensboro College as a Libero. Lauren began her coaching career at Twin City in Winston-Salem two years ago and started coaching at NC Coastal last season. Lauren is USAV/SAFESPORT Certified.

Luis Martinez-Bido

Luis is coaching the 18 Power team this season. His coaching career began in Okinawa, Japan, where he served as an assistant coach at Kubasaki High School from 2011 to 2014. He later continued coaching in Hawaii in 2019, leading three intramural volleyball teams and helping develop local talent while sharing his passion for the sport. In 2007, Luis was selected to represent the All-Marine Volleyball Team, further demonstrating his skill and dedication at a high competitive level. Since returning to the mainland, Luis has served as an assistant coach for three seasons with NC Coastal Volleyball Club, working with 16U and 18U teams. Luis is USAV/SAFESPORT certified. 

Brett McMillan

Brett is in his fifth year coaching at NC Coastal Volleyball Club. He has a strong background in competitive volleyball, having traveled extensively playing in open-level beach and grass tournaments. He is GMS certified and will be coaching the 16 Power team this season. Brett is USAV/SAFESPORT Certified. 

Kassie McRostie

Kassie is from Wilmington, NC, and played volleyball at New Hanover High School, graduating in 2014. She continued her playing career at Cape Fear Community College for three years. Kassie has been coaching at NC Coastal since 2023 and also coached at Cape Fear Academy in 2024. Kassie is USAV/SAFESPORT Certified.

Mackenzie Reaves

Mackenzie is entering her fifth year with NC Coastal, bringing over a decade of coaching experience. She has worked with athletes of all ages at the club level and has a particular passion for training setters. As a player, Mackenzie was a four-year varsity captain and All-Conference selection at Holly Springs High School, where she still holds the career assists record. She was named Most Outstanding Player her senior year and earned the NC Elite Club-Wide Leadership Award at the conclusion of her 18s season. Mackenzie continued her volleyball career at the collegiate level, highlighted by reaching the NAIA National Semifinals in 2016. Most recently, Mackenzie served as a 16s Head Coach and Private Lesson Coordinator for NC Coastal. This season, she will step into the role of Practice Supervisor while continuing as Private Lesson Coordinator. Mackenzie is USAV/SAFESPORT certified.

Lexi Reeves

Alexis will be assistant coaching the 17 Power Team this season.  Originally from Rock Hill, SC, she is currently in Wilmington for school. She played club volleyball for 10 years and high school volleyball for four years. This season marks her fourth year coaching and her second with NC Coastal. Alexis is USAV/SAFESPORT certified.

Grace Torino  

Grace is originally from upstate New York and has lived in the Wilmington area for four years. She graduated in 2021 from Cazenovia College with a degree in criminal justice. Grace began playing volleyball in middle school and continued through club programs and college. This is her third season coaching at NC Coastal, and she is excited to lead the 13’s National team this year.

Sean Williams

Sean grew up playing volleyball in Central California, where he competed for four years on his high school varsity team and played four years of club volleyball with Central Cal. He continued his playing career as an outside hitter for two years at San Diego City College. Sean was first introduced to the GMS philosophy in 2005 at a BYU volleyball camp and has continued to play at a high level throughout his life. This is his third year coaching at NC Coastal. He recently started a beach volleyball training company in Surf City, teaching youth and adults, and organizing leagues and tournaments. Sean is leading the 17 Power team this season. Sean is USAV/SAFESPORT Certified.

Lauren Whisnant

Lauren will be assisting the 15 Power team this season. This is her second year coaching at NC Coastal. She also assists with the Laney High School volleyball program. As a player, she competed in club volleyball for five years at NC Coastal and played four years at Laney. Lauren is USAV/SAFESPORT certified.
